The concept for the residential building east of Grutschgasse develops the predefined L-shaped form into an atrium house organised around a bright, generous courtyard. This structure not only provides clear wayfinding but also raises living quality: circulation and communal zones receive natural daylight, while unfavorable north-facing apartments are avoided. At ground level, shared areas open directly to the garden, so the house addresses a large open space that can host everything from everyday encounters to community events. The entrance to the underground garage is discreetly integrated into the volume, allowing the south-facing edge to remain undisturbed as private apartment gardens.
All apartments include private outdoor spaces – loggias, balconies or gardens. Their floor-by-floor staggered arrangement creates varied spatial situations: sheltered zones offer intimacy, while open double-height cuts extend views and enhance spatial quality. Bright stair cores and short, legible routes simplify orientation. Complemented by the house garden – with a playground, planting beds, and lounging decks – the result is a lively, green living environment that relates naturally to the adjoining parks and pedestrian routes, and frames long views while maintaining privacy.
